From the O-week Exec:

Remember that sense of excitement opening the packaging for a new game when you were a kid? The anticipation of a new adventure firmly in your grasp, tearing off the wrapper to reveal a crazy cast of characters and a surprising focus towards reaching the end goal? Osgoode OWeek offers all that wonder and joy, without any need to blow into a dusty game cartridge.

On behalf of the Orientation Executive, welcome to Osgoode Hall! Trust us, this is going to be your next great adventure. You're joining a vibrant community that's both rich with history and alive with diversity. We've planned an Orientation Week to reflect these strengths and give you a chance to find the Luigi to your Mario before diving in to the rigors of Osgoode. The transition into law school is a unique one - this week is set up to foster a balance between the fast-paced challenges of academics and the entertainment of Osgoode's social life.

Orientation this year is themed around classic video games. From Tetris to Donkey Kong and beyond, we hope to highlight the fun, light-hearted aspects of our community by integrating some of your favourite classics into different events. You'll be placed in one of four first year sections for all of your classes and you'll compete during OWeek for the Aird & Berlis Spirit Cup. Each section will borrow a mascot from the video games of days gone by, so keep an eye our for Pac Man and Space Invaders.

Look forward to touring Old Osgoode Hall, facing off at Graffiti Bowling, meeting the many clubs that enrich the Osgoode student experience and much, much more. We encourage you to take as much in as you can. First year can pass by faster than Sonic the Hedgehog, so we hope this week sets the right balance of work, learning, and excitement to prepare you for the game.

From Legal and Lit:

My name is Elena Iosef and I am the President of the 2012/2013 Legal and Literary Society (Legal and Lit). Having been founded in 1876, Legal and Lit is responsible for coordinating and funding the numerous professional, athletic, social and extracurricular activities at Osgoode Hall Law School. We are the primary student government of the law school, working in collaboration with the members of Student Caucus to provide student services to help keep our law school one of the most prestigious in Canada.

On behalf of Legal and Lit and our upper year students, it is with the upmost sincerity that I say: we are so glad to have you. Your experiences here will be very rewarding and will no doubt challenge and strengthen your intellect. Osgoode, however, is about more than just academics. We are a rich and vibrant community made up of students who were chosen for their drive and uniqueness of spirit. I challenge you to take ownership of your time here, forge new friendships and discover your voice in the process.

We on Legal and Lit will strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Along with the 2012 Orientation Committee, we cannot wait to meet all of you.
